An inn in biblical usage could mean a night resting place, a caravan stopping place, or a guest chamber rather than a modern hotel. The New Testament also mentions public lodging places for travelers.
Biblical Usage
The lodging place in Exodus was a caravan halt. In Luke, the place where the child Jesus was laid is distinguished from the public inn associated with the Good Samaritan; the word used for the Last Supper denotes a guest chamber or reception room.
