Korah
People & Groups • Old Testament
Korah is the name of several men, most notably the Levite who led a rebellion against Moses and Aaron. God judged the rebellion, while Korah’s descendants later served as prominent temple singers.
Biblical Usage
Korah and his associates challenged the authority of Moses and Aaron and the Aaronic priesthood. Fire destroyed the men offering incense, while the earth swallowed others; the sons of Korah did not die in the catastrophe.
