Marriage
Marriage is a divinely instituted union of a man and woman, established in creation and affirmed by Jesus. Scripture presents faithfulness, mutual love, and the duties of husband and wife as central to this relationship, while also using marriage as a picture of God’s covenant with his people and Christ’s union with the Church.
Biblical Usage
Jesus confirmed marriage’s creation ordinance and addressed divorce. The apostles taught the duties of husbands and wives, while Scripture described the Church as the Bride of the Lamb and used marriage to portray God’s covenant relationship with His people.
