Nebat
Nebat was the father of Jeroboam I, the first king of the northern kingdom of Israel. He is usually mentioned in the phrase “Jeroboam the son of Nebat.”
Biblical Usage
Nebat is chiefly used to distinguish Jeroboam I from the later Jeroboam, who was the son of Joash. The repeated phrase “Jeroboam the son of Nebat” identifies the king associated with the division of the kingdom.
