Omri
Omri was the sixth king of the northern kingdom of Israel and founder of a powerful dynasty. He established Samaria as the capital, expanded Israel’s influence, and was condemned for doing evil before the Lord.
Biblical Usage
Omri is condemned as having done evil in the eyes of the Lord and worse than those before him. His reign and the later reference to the “statutes of Omri” are associated with unfaithfulness to the worship of Yahweh.
