Onias
Onias was the name of several Jewish leaders in the period between the Old and New Testaments, including Onias III, a godly high priest who opposed the profanation of the temple.
Biblical Usage
Onias III was known for godliness and zeal for the law. He defended the temple treasury, including the deposits of widows and orphans, and was later treacherously slain after opposing temple profanation.
