Pentecost
Pentecost, meaning “fiftieth,” was Israel’s Feast of Weeks, celebrating the completion of the grain harvest. In the New Testament, Pentecost became the day when the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples and many were brought into the church.
Biblical Usage
In the New Testament, Pentecost became the day on which the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles. Through Peter’s preaching many were converted, and the disciples were empowered for witness and the church’s mission.
