PERSEVERANCE
Perseverance is steadfast continuance in faith, holiness, and prayer. Scripture gives believers strong encouragement to endure while also warning against presumption, self-deception, and falling into sin.
Biblical Usage
The word occurs in the King James Version in connection with persistence in prayer. Scripture gives assurances of the believer’s perseverance, yet also gives urgent warnings against falling, self-confidence, and sin. These assurances and cautions are to be applied appropriately to the timid disciple and to the self-confident.
