Physician
A physician is one who treats bodily illness. Scripture recognizes physicians and medical care, while also teaching that healing ultimately belongs to God and must not replace trust in Him.
Biblical Usage
Scripture recognizes physicians and medical treatment, but Asa is criticized for seeking physicians while not seeking the Lord. Jesus used the physician as an illustration when speaking of the sick, and Luke is called “the beloved physician.” Biblical healing by prophets is generally presented as miraculous rather than as ordinary treatment.
