Purim
Purim was the annual Jewish festival celebrating deliverance from the threatened massacre planned by Haman. It was observed for two days, on the fourteenth and fifteenth of Adar, with rejoicing and the reading of Esther.
Biblical Usage
The festival was instituted after the Jews were preserved from their enemies and was observed on the fourteenth and fifteenth days of Adar. It commemorated the reversal of Haman’s design and the preservation of the Jewish people.
