Ramoth-gilead
Ramoth-gilead was a fortified city and city of refuge east of the Jordan in Gilead. It was the scene of battles with Syria and the place where Jehu was anointed king of Israel.
Biblical Usage
Ramoth-gilead was the scene of repeated wars with Syria. Ahab was mortally wounded while attempting to recover it, and Joram was later wounded there. Jehu was anointed king of Israel at the city.
