The Red Sea is the sea crossed by Israel during the Exodus. It separates Africa from Arabia and is repeatedly remembered in Scripture as the place where God delivered Israel and overthrew Pharaoh’s army.
Biblical Usage
The Red Sea is chiefly associated with Israel’s Exodus, the passage of the Israelites, and the overthrow of Pharaoh’s army. Scripture also mentions it in connection with Ezion-geber, Solomon’s ships, and later recollections of God’s deliverance.
