Repentance
Repentance is a Spirit-worked turning from sin to God. It includes recognizing guilt, grieving over sin, trusting God’s mercy, abandoning evil, and pursuing a holy life.
Biblical Usage
The New Testament distinguishes mere regret or remorse from true repentance. True repentance is associated with turning to God, faith, conversion, remission of sins, baptism, and fruits appropriate to a changed life. It is a condition of salvation, not its meritorious ground.
