Rest
Rest may mean cessation from labor, relief from trouble, peace, or a place of repose. Scripture speaks of Sabbath rest, rest in the promised land, rest in Christ, and the final rest of God’s people.
Biblical Usage
Scripture speaks of God resting after creation, the seventh day and seventh year as times of rest, Israel’s rest in the land, rest in God, the rest of the grave, and Christ’s offer of rest to the soul. Hebrews presents a Sabbath rest that remains for God’s people.
