RETRIBUTION
Retribution is the righteous punishment of sin under God’s judgment. Scripture presents it both as the natural consequence of wrongdoing and as the positive execution of divine justice against the impenitent.
Biblical Usage
Scripture teaches that people reap what they sow and that sin brings corruption. God’s judgment renders to each person according to his works, vindicates divine righteousness, and recompenses affliction to those who afflict others. The impenitent remain liable to wrath, while believers are delivered from wrath through salvation.
