Rome
Rome was the capital of the Roman Empire and a major city of the ancient world. Christians were present there early, Paul later ministered there as a prisoner, and the city became an important setting in New Testament history.
Biblical Usage
Visitors from Rome were present at Pentecost and may have helped establish the church there. Rome is the setting of the Epistle to the Romans, and Paul was brought there as a prisoner, remaining two years in his own hired house and preaching the kingdom of God.
