RUDIMENTS
Rudiments are elementary principles or first lessons. In Paul’s letters the term especially refers to the weak and preparatory ceremonial ordinances associated with the former religious order, in contrast with the fullness found in Christ.
Biblical Usage
Hebrews uses the term for the first principles of God’s oracles. In Galatians and Colossians Paul describes Jewish ceremonial ordinances as weak, worldly, and preparatory, in contrast with the fullness found in Christ. Second Peter uses the term for the physical elements that will be dissolved.
