Sabaoth, The Lord Of
“The Lord of Sabaoth” means “the Lord of hosts” or “the Lord of armies.” The title presents God as sovereign Commander over earthly and heavenly hosts.
Biblical Usage
The title occurs in Romans and James and is familiar from the Sanctus of the Te Deum. In the biblical conception, Jehovah is the leader and commander of the armies of the nation.
