Salome was the wife of Zebedee and mother of James and John; she followed Jesus, witnessed his crucifixion, and came to the tomb. The name also belonged to Herodias’s daughter, whose request led to John the Baptist’s execution.
Biblical Usage
The wife of Zebedee followed and ministered to Jesus, requested positions of honor for her sons, witnessed the crucifixion, and came to the tomb. Herodias’s daughter danced before Herod and requested the execution of John the Baptist.
