Objects & Symbols • Both
A seal was an engraved signet or impression used to authenticate documents, mark ownership, ratify agreements, or secure a closed object. Figuratively, Scripture uses sealing for confirmation, possession, protection, and the Spirit’s mark upon believers.
Biblical Usage
Scripture uses sealing for authenticating God’s purposes, ratifying covenants, confirming authority, preserving documents, and securing closed objects. Circumcision is called a seal of the righteousness of faith, and believers are sealed with the Holy Spirit as God’s possession until redemption.
