SERVICE
Service includes ordinary labor, work, slavery, governmental duty, ministry, and worship. In Scripture it especially describes service to God, priestly and Levitical duties, Christian ministry, and acts of charitable or public assistance.
Biblical Usage
The Old Testament applies service to field labor, bondage, tabernacle and sanctuary duties, Levitical and priestly ministry, kingly service, and service of Yahweh. The New Testament uses related terms for servant ministry, relief, slavery, worship, priestly service, charitable functions, and public ministry.
