SIEGE
A siege is the military investment and attack of a fortified city, often involving encampments, earthworks, siege mounds, battering-rams, starvation, and assault. Scripture describes sieges extensively in Israel’s history and uses them in both historical and prophetic passages.
Biblical Usage
Sieges appear throughout Israel’s history and in prophetic descriptions of Jerusalem, Tyre, and other cities. Scripture describes offers of surrender, starvation, siegeworks, battering-rams, breaches, defense, and the horrors of capture. Siege language also appears in the New Testament.
