SIMPLE
In the Old Testament, “simple” describes a person who is open to influence and may be either teachable or easily led into folly. In the New Testament, it can mean innocent, guileless, sincere, or uncontaminated by evil.
Biblical Usage
The Old Testament use may be neutral, favorable, or unfavorable, depending on whether openness leads to instruction or folly. In the New Testament, believers are urged to be guileless and uncontaminated by evil while being wise concerning good.
