Spiritual describes what belongs to or proceeds from the spirit. In its usual New Testament sense, it refers to a person renewed, indwelt, enlightened, and guided by the Holy Spirit rather than governed by the flesh or merely natural life.
Biblical Usage
The spiritual person is renewed, indwelt, enlightened, empowered, and guided by the Holy Spirit. Spirituality is contrasted with fleshly and natural conditions, and the spiritual life involves conformity to God’s will, the mind of Christ, and life in the Spirit.
