Stranger
A stranger was a non-Israelite residing among the people of Israel. The law regulated his religious and civil status and repeatedly required that he be treated with fairness and compassion.
Biblical Usage
Mosaic law regulated the stranger’s civil and religious status and required Israelites to treat the stranger as a brother. A circumcised stranger could share legal rights and the Passover; an uncircumcised stranger could not be regarded as a full citizen and was excluded from the Passover.
