Sun
The sun is the greater heavenly light appointed by God to rule the day and mark times and seasons. Scripture forbids worshiping it, while also using it figuratively for glory, blessing, and the presence of the Savior.
Biblical Usage
Scripture forbids the worship of the sun, an ancient form of idolatry practiced among pagan nations. The sun also serves figuratively for God’s law, his cheering presence, the Savior, and the glory and purity of heavenly beings.
