Swallow

Agriculture & Daily Life • Old Testament
The swallow is a swift, migratory bird known for its tireless flight, nesting near human dwellings, and distinctive call. Scripture mentions it as a picture of freedom, movement, and a bird finding a home near God’s altar.
Biblical Usage
The swallow is pictured as a free-flying bird and as finding a nest near the altars of the Lord. Its wandering flight is also used in a comparison concerning a causeless curse. In some passages translated “swallow,” the bird is more probably the crane or swift.
