Taxes
Taxes included offerings for the tabernacle or temple, royal and provincial levies, tribute to foreign rulers, customs duties, property taxes, and poll taxes. Scripture also teaches submission to lawful authorities in paying taxes.
Biblical Usage
Scripture records the half-shekel payment for the sanctuary, royal and provincial taxation, tribute to foreign rulers, and Roman taxes on merchandise, property, and persons. The New Testament enjoins payment of taxes imposed by lawful rulers.
