TENDER

Christian Life • Both
Tender may describe something soft, delicate, or physically weak, as in Leah’s eyes or tender grass. In Scripture it can also describe a penitent or compassionate heart, and strong feelings of mercy and kindness.
Biblical Usage
Leah’s tender eyes describe a physical defect, while a tender heart in Josiah’s case means a penitent heart. Biblical expressions translated “tender mercies” or “tenderhearted” refer to kindness and compassion. Tender grass, a tender plant, a tender branch, and softened branches are also used in biblical imagery.
