The Tigris, called Hiddekel in Genesis, was one of the rivers of Eden and later the “great river” known to Daniel. It rises in the Armenian mountains and flows southeast through Mesopotamia.
Biblical Usage
The Tigris is one of the rivers of Eden and is described as running eastward toward Assyria. Daniel refers to it as the Great River.
