Type
A biblical type is a person, event, institution, or object appointed by God to resemble and foreshadow a later fulfillment. Old Testament types point forward especially to Christ and the blessings of redemption.
Biblical Usage
The New Testament treats persons and events from earlier biblical history as foreshadowings of future realities, especially the work of redemption. Types may be personal, historical, or ritual, including persons such as Adam and Aaron, events such as the exodus, and institutions such as the priesthood and tabernacle.
