Weights And Measures
Measures & Money • Both
Biblical weights and measures included units of length, capacity, and weight, such as the cubit, span, palm, ephah, bath, shekel, maneh, and talent. Their values varied somewhat, but they regulated trade, construction, offerings, and taxation.
Biblical Usage
These units regulated construction, travel, trade, offerings, taxation, and other ordinary and sacred activities. Biblical writers use both linear and capacity measures as well as monetary and commercial weights.
