The Wilderness of the Wandering was the central region of the Sinai peninsula where Israel remained for most of the forty years between Egypt and Canaan. The prolonged wandering followed the nation’s unbelief and rebellion at Kadesh.
Biblical Usage
Israel reached Kadesh and sent spies into the Promised Land. After the people became discouraged and rebelled, they were compelled to remain about thirty-eight additional years before again moving toward Canaan.
