Wine
Agriculture & Daily Life • Both
Wine is the fermented or freshly pressed juice of grapes, used for food, hospitality, worship, and celebration. Scripture also warns against drunkenness and records restrictions on its use by Nazirites and priests during service.
Biblical Usage
Wine was present at ordinary meals, feasts, and the marriage at Cana. Scripture also associates it with intoxication, loss of judgment, and moral danger. Rechabites and Nazirites were forbidden wine, and priests were forbidden wine and strong drink during sacred service.
