Wool
Wool is fleece taken from sheep and one of the chief fibers used for clothing and weaving. It was valuable in Israelite life, subject to certain ceremonial restrictions, and sometimes offered to priests or paid as tribute.
Biblical Usage
Wool was used in clothing and weaving, offered as a first-fruit to priests, and sometimes paid as tribute. It was forbidden to be woven with linen, priests were not to wear woolen garments, and a fleece was used by Gideon in seeking an omen. Its whiteness also supplied biblical comparisons.
