World may mean the earth, the inhabited human realm, an age or period, the created universe, or humanity in its sinful opposition to God. Its precise meaning depends on the biblical context.
Biblical Usage
The Bible can speak of the world as God’s creation and as the object of His love, while also warning believers not to love the world as the system of fallen humanity opposed to God. It may also mean the present age or the future age, the inhabited earth, or the Roman empire.
