Zoan
An ancient city in Lower Egypt, also called Tanis, associated with Pharaoh’s court and with Israel’s deliverance from Egypt.
Biblical Usage
Zoan is connected with the Egyptian setting of Israel’s oppression and deliverance. Pharaoh met Moses and Aaron there, and the wonders were performed in the field of Zoan. The Psalms and prophets also refer to the city and its rulers.
