Ahaziah of Israel

Ahaziah reigned only a short time after Ahab. Kings says he did evil, walked in the ways of his father and mother, and served Baal. After falling through the lattice of an upper room in Samaria and becoming seriously injured, he sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub, god of Ekron, whether he would recover. Elijah intercepted them and condemned the king for seeking a foreign deity as though there were no God in Israel. After confrontations in which two military companies were consumed by fire, a third captain approached Elijah humbly. Elijah then personally told Ahaziah that he would die, and the king died without a son.
