Jehoash

Jehoash continued the religious sins of the northern kingdom but achieved important military successes against Aram. When Elisha became terminally ill, the king wept over him and called him 'the chariots of Israel and its horsemen.' Elisha instructed him to shoot an arrow eastward as a sign of victory and then to strike the ground with arrows. Because Jehoash struck only three times, Elisha said he would defeat Aram three times rather than destroy it completely. After Elisha's death, Jehoash recovered cities from Ben-hadad in three victories. He also defeated Amaziah of Judah and broke part of Jerusalem's wall.
