Jeroboam II

Jeroboam II, son of Jehoash, continued the religious sins of Jeroboam I. Nevertheless, during his reign Israel recovered territory from Lebo-hamath to the Sea of the Arabah, fulfilling a word spoken through the prophet Jonah son of Amittai. Kings explains that God saw Israel's bitter affliction and had not yet decreed the erasure of Israel's name, so He saved them through Jeroboam. The prophets Amos and Hosea ministered in the broader period of his reign and expose the injustice, luxury, religious hypocrisy, and spiritual unfaithfulness that existed beneath the kingdom's prosperity.
