Abijah, also called Abi, was the mother of King Hezekiah of Judah and wife of King Ahaz.
Biography
Second Kings 18:2 identifies Hezekiah's mother as Abi daughter of Zechariah, while 2 Chronicles 29:1 gives her name as Abijah daughter of Zechariah. Beyond identifying her as Hezekiah's mother, Scripture provides no narrative about her life or direct explanation of her influence on her son.
Biblical Significance
Abijah's significance is primarily genealogical as mother of Hezekiah, one of Judah's outstanding reforming kings. Claims about her personal role in his reforms would go beyond the biblical evidence.
