Delilah was the woman from the Valley of Sorek who discovered the secret of Samson's strength and betrayed him to the Philistine rulers.
Biography
Judges 16 says Samson loved Delilah, and the Philistine rulers offered her a large payment to learn the source of his great strength. Samson repeatedly deceived her with false explanations, but after persistent pressure he finally told her that his uncut hair marked his Nazirite consecration. Delilah had his hair shaved while he slept and called the Philistines, who seized him after the Lord had departed from him, blinded him, and imprisoned him. Scripture does not identify Delilah's ethnicity or describe her later fate.
Biblical Significance
Delilah's betrayal is central to Samson's downfall. The narrative connects his vulnerability not merely to hair but to the breaking of the consecration that his hair represented.
