Biography

Genesis 11 says Haran was born to Terah and became the father of Lot, Milcah, and Iscah. Haran died in Ur of the Chaldeans during his father Terah's lifetime. His daughter Milcah married Haran's brother Nahor, while his son Lot later traveled with Abram. The city named Haran in the patriarchal narratives is a geographic place and should not be confused with this person.

Biblical Significance

Haran's early death shaped the family relationships surrounding Abraham, particularly Abram's continuing association with his nephew Lot and Nahor's marriage to Milcah.
