Jehosheba was a daughter of King Jehoram, sister of Ahaziah, and wife of the priest Jehoiada who rescued the infant Joash from Athaliah's massacre.
Biography
When Athaliah attempted to destroy Judah's royal heirs, Jehosheba secretly took Joash and his nurse from among the princes facing death and hid them in a bedroom. Joash remained concealed in the house of the Lord for six years while Athaliah ruled. Jehosheba's marriage to Jehoiada is explicit in Chronicles.
Biblical Significance
Jehosheba's courageous intervention preserved the Davidic line and made Joash's later restoration possible. Her action is a crucial link in the continuation of the dynasty from which the Messiah was promised.
