Genesis 10 and 1 Chronicles 1 list Kittim among the descendants of Javan. Later biblical usage applies the name to maritime western lands or peoples; Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel use Kittim in geographic or prophetic settings. The term is therefore better understood corporately than as an individual biography.
