Biography
Genesis 36 and 1 Chronicles 1 list Lotan among the sons of Seir the Horite. His sons included Hori and Hemam or Homam depending on the passage's spelling. Lotan is also named among the Horite chiefs. Scripture records no independent narrative about him.

Lotan belongs to the genealogy and clan structure of the Horites in Seir before and alongside the development of Edom.
