Biography
Daniel describes Michael as one of the chief princes and as the great prince who stands for God's people, participating in unseen conflict involving spiritual powers. Jude 9 explicitly calls Michael the archangel and recounts his dispute with the devil over Moses' body, emphasizing that Michael appealed to the Lord's rebuke rather than pronouncing judgment on his own authority. Revelation 12 portrays Michael and his angels fighting the dragon and his angels in heaven.
Biblical Significance
Michael is one of the few angels named in the canonical Bible. His appearances emphasize God's sovereign protection of His people and the reality of spiritual conflict without encouraging speculation beyond what Scripture reveals.
