Raphael is an angel named in the deuterocanonical Book of Tobit but not in the Protestant canonical Bible.
Biography
In Tobit, Raphael accompanies Tobias in disguised human form, assists him during his journey, helps bring about his marriage to Sarah, and provides the means by which Tobit's sight is restored. Raphael eventually reveals his angelic identity. The name does not occur as an angel's name in the Protestant canon.
Biblical Significance
If retained, Raphael should be clearly labeled deuterocanonical rather than presented as a named angel of the Protestant biblical canon.
