Biblical character, son of Bichri (Second Book of Samuel)
Sheba son of Bichri was a Benjaminite rebel who led a revolt against David shortly after Absalom's rebellion.
Biography
Second Samuel 20 says Sheba blew a trumpet and declared that Israel had no share in David, drawing many Israelites away from the king. Joab pursued him to Abel Beth-maacah and prepared to batter the city wall. A wise woman negotiated with Joab and persuaded the city to execute Sheba and throw his head over the wall, ending the siege.
Biblical Significance
Sheba's revolt shows the continuing tribal instability of David's kingdom after Absalom's defeat and highlights how quickly political division could threaten national unity.
