Sisera was the commander of King Jabin's Canaanite army whose forces were defeated by Barak and Deborah and who was killed by Jael while fleeing.
Biography
Judges 4 describes Sisera commanding a formidable force including nine hundred iron chariots. Deborah summoned Barak to fight him at Mount Tabor, and the Lord threw Sisera's army into confusion. Sisera fled on foot to Jael's tent, where she welcomed him, covered him, and later killed him with a tent peg while he slept. Judges 5 celebrates the victory in the Song of Deborah.
Biblical Significance
Sisera's defeat is central to God's deliverance of Israel through Deborah, Barak, and Jael and reverses the apparent military superiority of Canaan's chariot force.
